An error occurred trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed; code 5 Access is denied


This error occurs when SyncBack is currently running and so one of its files cannot be replaced. It may be running under a different user account and so not be visible in the Task Manager. Try closing SyncBack and trying again. If it still fails:

  • Abort the install, run SyncBack, and set it not to start with Windows
  • Reboot and try installing again


If you are still getting the same error then reboot Windows into Safe Mode, install, then reboot.
