What is a Junction Point (Reparse Point)?

What is a Hard Link?

What is a Symbolic Link?

See this article for details.

You can have SyncBack ignore Junction Points to avoid copying files inside those directories. This is useful, for example, when the Junction Point points to a directory that is being backed up as part of another profile. It can also avoid recursive loop problems. To do this:

  • Modify your profile
  • Switch to Expert mode
  • Go to the Copy/Delete > Links settings page
  • Make sure the Ignore NTFS junction points (reparse points) checkbox or Ignore Windows backwards compatibility junction points checkbox is ticked
