Minor Updates
Minor updates are free for current versions. 2BrightSparks defines a minor update as a minor improvement to the program that maintains the major version number. The following are examples of minor updates:
V12.1 to V12.2
V12.1.1.0 to V12.1.1.1
V12.x.x.1 to V12.x.x.2
Note that there may be numerous changes across a span of minor updates which could amount to significant improvements to the program. As an example, SyncBackPro V9.0.7.10 was released in June 2019 and SyncBackPro V9.5.45.0 was released in September 2021. Everyone who purchased a license to use V9 enjoyed free updates throughout this whole period.
We do not provide free updates for outdated/obsolete versions, except in rare situations to address a critical issue.

Major Upgrades
There is a fee to upgrade SyncBackSE to SyncBackPro. Review the Pricing Details.
There is also a fee to upgrade to newer major versions of SyncBackSE or SyncBackPro from previous versions unless you purchased your license during a "grace period" (see the SyncBackSE and SyncBackPro sections below) or if you have previously purchased an Upgrade Assurance plan (see below). 2BrightSparks defines a major upgrade as delivering significant improvements to the program that are denoted by a change in the major version number. The following are examples of major upgrades:
V11 to V12
V10.0.0.15 to V12.0.0.0
SyncBackPro and SyncBackSE Upgrades
If you purchased SyncBackPro or SyncBackSE on or after 1st March 2026, or have active Upgrade Assurance on 31st March 2026, then you can upgrade to Version 12 free of charge. Simply download and install SyncBackSE/Pro V12 - your existing serial number will work. However, if you purchased SyncBackSE/Pro before 1st March 2026, or do not have an active subscription on 31st March 2026, then you must purchase an upgrade if you wish to use SyncBackSE/Pro V12. Upgrade Assurance
Customers upgrading to SyncBackSE/Pro V12 will have the opportunity to purchase the optional Upgrade Assurance plan, which is a subscription service. Upgrade Assurance subscribers will get free upgrades for new major version releases and extended priority support. General Upgrade Policy
1. The purchase of an upgrade license requires the previous purchase of a license. The upgrade serial number can only be used with a previously purchased valid serial number. Please ensure you have a record of your license number before purchase.
2. The number of upgrade licenses to buy cannot exceed the total number of past licenses previously purchased.
3. If you have several full licenses you may choose to purchase up to the same volume of upgrade licenses.
